Production of Substitute Natural Gas Integrated with Allam Cycle for Power Generation

The accumulation of energy from non-programmable renewable sources is a crucial aspect for the transition. Using surplus electricity sources, power-to-gas plants allow to produce substitute natural gas (SNG) that can be injected in existing infrastructure large-scale and long-term storage, contributing grid decarbonisation. plant layout, method used carbon dioxide capture possible cogeneration increase efficiency convenience SNG synthesis plants. In this work, system simultaneous production starting biomass fluctuating renewables proposed, using based on Allam thermodynamic cycle as power unit. uses supercritical CO2 evolving fluid oxycombustion gaseous fuels, thus greatly simplifying capture. proposed system, performed syngas electrolytic oxygen. generated by means captured, it subsequently together with hydrogen through thermochemical methanation. also coupled solid oxide electrolyser gasifier. whole was analysed an energy-related point view. results show overall 67.6% LHV basis (71.6% HHV basis) significant amounts high-calorific-value SNG, whose composition could compatible network.
